Our Savior's

Josef Milinte Kulff, 77, son of Milesho and Mary Dmitruk, was born November 15, 1889 in Kamen Koszyrsh, Rajon, Russia, in the Province of Wolinska Oblast. He came to this country when a young man in 1907.

In 1920 he was married to Phoebe Guttomson at Austin, Minn., and they farmed southeast of Austin, northwest of Hayfield & at Oakdale, Blooming Prairie & Lansing before coming to Lyle 22 1/2 years ago where operated an Elevator & Fee Mill. The past few years he operated the North Star Station in Lyle.

Mr. Kulff died March 17, 1967 at St. Mary's hospital, Rochester, following a stroke without regaining consciousness.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, March 21 at 1:30 p.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran church in Lyle with the Rev. Merland Johnson officiating. Interment was in Grandview cemetery at Austin.

He was a member of VFW and the Eagles. He served 23 months in World War I in the 5th Div., 7th Eng. of which 14 months were overseas where he took part in two major battles on the Meuse River.

Survivors are his wife Phoebe, two sons, Donald, Detroit, Mich., and Melford of Austin, Minn.; one daughter, Audrey Noorlum, Golden Colo.; 11 grandchildren, one great grandson; one brother, Malaphi Dmitruk; one sister, Mrs. Ksenia Mecolick, both of The Pas, Manitoba, Canada.

Honorary Casket bearers were World War I Barracks 647 and casket bearers were members of Foreign Wars, Post 1216 and Military Escort was VFW Post 1216.

Out of town relatives attending the funeral were Malaphi Dmitruk, Thompson, Manitoba, Canada and Irene Melnick, Brandon, Manitoba, Canada.
