Word reached Lyle relatives Wednesday of the death of a former area Woman, Mrs. J. M. Hofland, 74, of Circle, Mont. Tuesday, May 31 at the Great Falls, Mont. hospital from a lingering illness, but death came suddenly while she was in the lobby of the hospital where she had gone for a check up.

Funeral services were held at Circle, Mont. Saturday, June 4, and interment was at Circle.

Mabel Josephine Jacobson, the daughter of Jacob and Mary Anderson Jacobson, was born in Nevada township near Rose Creek, December 18, 1892 one of a family of 10 children. She attended rural school in that township and was baptized and confirmed in the Six Mile Grove Lutheran church. She was employed in domestic work in Austin before her marriage to Jewett M. Hofland of Lyle December 30, 1915. They established their home on a farm near Vida, Mont. The Hoflands were privileged to celebrate their Golden wedding anniversary last winter.

She is survived by her husband and two sons, Everett and Elmer Hofland of Vida, Mont.; and daughter (Marie) Mrs. Gil GIlbertson of Circle, Mont.; also seven grandchildren & eight great grandchildren; one brother, John Jacobson of Rose Creek, and one sister, Mrs. Ibert (Laura) Hofland of Lyle.

She was preceded in death by her parents and six sisters: Mrs. Martin (Amelia) Nelson of Rose Creek; Mrs. Virgil (Hannah) Bisbee, Baker, Mont.; Mrs. Ole (Clara) Lastine, Rose Creek; Mrs. Oliver (Georgena) Berg, Reeder N. D.; Mrs. Otto (Emma) Duenow of Beloit, Wis. and Miss Sophie Jacobson of Rose Creek. Also one brother, Louis Jacobson of Rose Creek.
