Glen Arnold Aanonson, 96, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015, at the Adams Health Care Center, Adams, Minnesota.

He was born Oct. 20, 1918, in Nevada Township, Mower County, Minnesota, to Lewis and Ethel (Hofland) Aanonson. Glen attended country schools and graduated from the eighth grade. He was married to Irene Walk on May 9, 1943. They had two sons: Leland and Larry.

Glen grew up on the farm, raising and working with horses. He purchased his own farm in 1939. He worked for Thill Implement in Rose Creek. He started doing carpentry work with Art Janzow and his father-in-law Ervin Walk. In 1957 Glen built a new family home. He began building and remodeling homes and farm buildings throughout the area. He worked with other carpenters and later with his sons.

He was a life-long member of Six Mile Grove Lutheran Church near Lyle, Minnesota, and served on the Cemetery Board. He loved researching Rev. C. L. Clausen’s ministry. He enjoyed working with horses and ponies, going to farm sales, growing roses, reading and writing poetry.

Survivors include his two sons and daughters-in-law: Leland and Gloria Aanonson of Rose Creek, Minnesota; Larry and Lynette Aanonson of Lyle, Minnesota; two grandchildren: Michael Aanonson of Lyle, Minnesota, and Melanie Aanonson of Fort Dodge, Iowa; three step-grandchildren: Richard (Kathy) Heathman, Copperas Cove, Texas, Shelly (Jeff) Demetrelis, Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Sara (Tony) Reed, Marshalltown, Iowa; and nine step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Irene; brothers: Leonard and John, and a sister Vera Gerber.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015, at the Six Mile Grove Lutheran Church near Lyle, Minnesota, with the Rev. Arvid Jovaag officiating. Interment will be at the Six Mile Grove Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, Jan. 23, 2015, at the Clasen-Jordan Mortuary from 4 to 7 p.m. and at the church for one hour before the service on Saturday morning.
