Obituary- Mrs. Johnson

Rosie Nordness was born in Oswego county, Wis., to Mr. and Mrs. Sever Nordness, January 21, 1858. When a small child she came with her parents to Minnesota, locating on a farm four and a half miles east of Lyle.

In 1879 she married Peter A. Johnson, of Adams, Minn. To this union five children were born- one daughter, Gena (Mrs. George Penney), Stacyville; and four sons Severene, Alfred and Percy, of Minneapolis. Bernie preceded her in death about three years ago. Her husband died nine years ago, and since then she has lived with her children, spending most of her time with her daughter, where she was during her last illness. She was a member of the Lutheran church at Six Mile Grove during her childhood, transferring to Lyle.

During her stay with her daughter she attended the Methodist services as long as her health permitted. Later she listened to the Lutheran services over the radio. She was a faithful church worker.

Mrs. Johnson had been failing in health for some time, but was confined to her bed only since last Thursday. Death was caused by a brain hemorrhage and paralytic stroke.

She is survived by four children, twelve grandchildren, one of whom, Luella Sockness, she raised from childhood; five great-grandchildren and one brother, Sever Nordness, of Canton, S. D.

Mrs. Johnson passed away at 2:15 Wednesday afternoon. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Six Mile Grove church, east of Lyle, Minn., and interment in the adjoining Six mile cemetery. Rev. H. M. Tiffany read a short scripture at the house.
