Gladys Meyer -- Austin

AUSTIN -- The funeral for Gladys Meyer will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin, with the Rev. Kristen K. Wee officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Mona, Iowa.

Mrs. Meyer, 86, formerly of Austin, died Monday (Sept. 13, 1999) at Prairie Manor Nursing Home in Blooming Prairie where she had resided 21 months.

Gladys Hofland was born April 13, 1913, in Lyle Township, Mower County, and lived in the Rose Creek-Adams area before moving to Austin in the 1930s. She graduated from Austin High School and normal teachers training to teach in Lansing Township rural schools. She worked at the feed mill and pet store in Austin operated by Mark Meyer, whom she married in 1963. Mrs. Meyer was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church, the DAR and AARP, and enjoyed reading.

Survivors include nieces, a nephew and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband and an infant sister.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and an hour before the service Friday.
