Merrit Olsen Rites Held at Six Mile Grove

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 6, 1963 at Six Mile Grove Lutheran Church for Merrit Chris Olsen, age 6, with the Rev. Stanley Klemesrud officiating.
Interment was in the church cemetery.

Merrit Chris Olsen was born August 2, 1956 at Osage, Mitchell, Iowa, the son of Garmen and Agnes (Austinson) Olsen.

He attended kindergarten and first grade at the Lyle Public school, Sunday school at Six Mile Grove church and Bible school this summer.

The first two years of his life, he lived on a farm near St. Ansgar and the past five years on a farm northeast of Lyle, MN. He was baptized at St. Ansgar on September 23, 1956 by the Rev O. A. Langehough.

He died at St. Mary's hospital, Rochester, Minnesota on July 2nd, where he had been since he was injured in a haying accident on June 20th.

Merritt will always be remembered by his pleasant and sunny disposition and the enthusiasm he showed in all activities he took part in.

He is survived by his parents, three brothers: Derby, Derry and Marty and a sister, Melody and his grandfather, Chris Olsen.

He was preceded in death by two brothers: Monty and Marty.

Casket bearers were Gene Pell, George Pell, Kevin Enerson, Robert Sauer, Greg Rugg and Larry Helgeson.
