Herman Denisen Rites Held At Our Savior's

Funeral services for Herman E. Denisen, 68, who died at the Halverson Rest Home Wednesday evening, November 16, were held Saturday, November 19 at Our Savior's Lutheran church in Lyle with the Rev. Merland Johnson officiating.

Herman Emil Denisen was born July 21, 1892 in Austin Township, the son of Peter and Gusta Denisen. His family moved to Lyle Township when he was four years old where he resided until he was confined by illness to the rest home. He attended school at Lyle Center. Mr. Denisen worked at farming, and later at carpentry until his health failed.

He served in the armed forces during World War I from September 19, 1917 to February 12, 1919. His was the first number drawn in the draft in 1917. He was a former member of the American Legion Post at Lyle. He is survived by two brothers, Axel G. Denisen of Austin and Walter Denisen of Lyle; one sister, Mrs. Carl T, (Edna) Hansen of Tyler, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Alfred and George, and two sisters, Mary and Anna. There are thirteen nieces and nephews.

Interment was at Six-Mile Grove cemetery with American Legion Post No. 105 of Lyle in charge of military rites. The bearers were Hollis Weber, Carl Hass, Harry Jordan, Clarence Walsh, Rufus Rawn and Leonard Salisbury.

Relatives and friends attending from out-of-town were from Tyler, Austin, St. Paul, Caledonia Spring Valley and Rose Creek, Minnesota and Waterloo and St. Ansgar, Iowa.
