OBITUARY.

THOMAS MYHRE.
Seldom has death touched so many hearts with its dark shadow or the community been so profoundly shocked as last Sunday when the news of the sudden demise of Tom Myhre was made known. He was stricken down while in the midst of life, while death seemed far off and life was counted on. Saturday he was about his business and Sunday he had joined the countless number on the other shore. The last few days he complained a little of a bad cold but was at work as usual. Saturday he was sick but having a strong robust constitution paid little attention to his ailments and although he looked quite sick but insisted in not calling a doctor. About 11:30 he arose and went to the kitchen for a drink of water, when he was seized with a cramp in the stomach and passed away in a few minutes. Mr. Myhre was a man who made many friends during his long residence in this village and will be greatly missed.

He was born in Stoughton, Wis. March 22, 1857 and came to this vicinity while still quite young. On January 19,1882 he was married to Miss Enner, at Silver Lake, Ia, where they resided until about 15 years ago when they moved to Lyle where they have since resided. He purchased the dray line from J. K. Clark and has since worked at that business.

Mr. Myhre was the father of five children, four of whom are living. They are Simon, Inga, Thea and Elvira. Besides these he leaves a wife, an aged mother, who is making her home near Meltonville, but on account of poor health was unable to attend the funeral; six sisters, Mrs. Isabella Qualley, Mrs. Christena Enner, Mrs. Caroline Throne and Mrs. Lena Gordon, all residing in the vicinity of Meltonville; Mrs. Martha Throne of McIntosh, Minn and Mrs. Anna Throne of Carpenter, Iowa also two brothers, Ole. a photographer at Luverne, Minn., and Simon, who resides near Devils Lake, N.D. The latter was unable to be present at the funeral. Mr. Myhre's father preceded him to the regions beyond, having passed away eight years ago the 19th of last April.

The funeral was held at the house Wednesday at noon and at the Mona Lutheran church an hour later. The services were conducted by Rev. Dietrichson and Rev. Hanna. Interment was made in the Sunny Side cemetery.

Mrs. Myhre was alway been ready to lend a helping hand to the sick and bereaved and now when the dark shadow has come over her home the sincere sympathy of the entire community is extended to her and her family.
