Funeral services for DeWayne Murphy, 32, who was killed in a plane crash March 11, were held at Queen of Apostles church in Council Bluffs and at St. Edward's Catholic church in Austin with the Rev. Daniel Corcoran officiating.

Mr. Murphy was born in Lyle May 16, 1933, the son of Lela and Bernie Murphy. He graduated from Lyle high school in 1951. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps for three years, part of which was in Puerto Rico. Shortly before his discharge he was united in marriage with Charmaine Irvin in Vineland, N. J. Two daughters, Luana 8, Kellly Jean 6, and one son, Michael, 7, were born to this union.

While an airline mechanic Braniff in Minneapolis he attended night school to be metallurgist. He was sent to Lane Field, Tex. where he received more training as an airline mechanic. He then continued with Braniff in Minneapolis and he taught private flying lessons. He advanced to Northern Natural Gas co. as co-pilot with mechanics rating, and lived for four years at Council Bluffs.

Mr. Murphy is survived by his wife, three children; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bernie Murphy of Austin; two sisters, Mrs. Harold (Norma) Keller and Mrs. Jerry (Jeanine) Kellogg; four brothers, Eugene, Elton, Douglas and Dale Murphy; in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Irvin, all of Austin.

Interment was at Calvary cemetery in Austin. The VFW honor guard took part in services.
