--Barney D. Nye, one of the earliest settlers of Nevada township, departed this life, and was buried from his residence, Thursday, March 31st, 1881. It was a very stormy day, but a great many people, with teams, gathered at his residence to pay their last tribute of respect to the departed dead and family. It again becomes our painful duty to record the death of one of our esteemed friends of London in the person of Mrs. Calista Davidson (sic), who died June 13th at Austin, of consumption ; age 22. Her maiden name was Gibson, and she had been married to George Davidson (sic) about 6 months. They moved to Austin this spring, but was brought to London the scene of her youth for funeral services the 15th. Rev. Mr. Stanley of Austin delivered the sermon from Matt. 25 ch. 13 v. to an unusual large concourse of attentive and sympathetic hearers.
