AUSTIN — A memorial service for Thomas J. Groff will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home in Albert Lea, with the Rev. Ron Barnett officiating.

Mr. Groff, 50, of Conger, Minn., formerly of Austin, died Tuesday (Jan. 16, 2007) at the Albert Lea Good Samaritan Center.

Thomas James Groff was born Feb. 13, 1956, in Albert Lea. He moved with his family to Austin in 1959, and graduated from Austin High School in 1976. He attended Austin Vo-Tech and studied auto mechanics. On May 28, 1991, he married Cindy L. Raisbeck in Albert Lea. They moved to Conger in 1994. He was employed at Farmstead until the plant closed. A member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin, he enjoyed fishing, stock car racing and NASCAR, and music.

Survivors include his wife; his mother, Shirley Groff of Austin; and a sister, Janet (John) Westendorf of Austin. He was preceded in death by his father.

Visitation will be an hour before the service at the funeral home.
