Funeral services for Sidney Morris Hofland, 86, of Lyle, Minn., who died Sunday, May 10 at Preston Care Center, Preston, Minn., were held Tuesday May 12 at Schroeder & Sites, Inc. Funeral Home, St. Ansgar, with the Rev. Gaylord Grant officiating.

Mr. Hofland was born November 24, 1900, in Union Township, Mitchell County, the son of Elling and Gertrude (Engesetter) Hofland. He was confirmed at Six Mile Grove Lutheran church, rural Lyle. He worked as a farm hand his entire life and also served in the army during World War II.

Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Martha Schulze of St. Ansgar and Mrs. Ella Dieterich of Northwood; a brother, Eugene of St. Ansgar and a brother, Eugene of St. Ansgar; three nieces, Mrs. Arlene Anderson of St. Ansgar, Mrs. Emma Hanson of Northwood and Elaine Losee of Dodge Center, Minn.; two nephews, Eugene Schulze and Allen Hofland.

Mr. Hofland was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Oscar and Alfred.

Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Mona. 5-14-1987
