AUSTIN — The funeral for Rachel M. Neiswanger will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin, with the Rev. Kristi Koppel officiating. Interment will be in Cedar City Cemetery.

Mrs. Neiswanger, 91, of Austin, died Sunday (Jan. 20, 2008) at Austin Medical Center.

Rachel Marie Weseman was born April 27, 1916, in Austin. In 1934, she graduated from Austin High School. On June 27, 1937, she married David Clare Neiswanger in Northfield, Minn. Mrs. Neiswanger was the founder of Mower Vehicle Registration Inc., where she was a deputy registrar. She was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church, the League of Women Voters, the DFL and the AARP, and served as a past president of the PTA and League of Women Voters. In 1950, she managed the Census of Mower County.

Survivors include her two daughters, Tucky Ann (Rev. Kinley) Eittreim of Birmingham, Ala., and Jane Clare (Lyman) Lundquist of Austin, Texas; two sons, Stephen Edward Neiswanger of Austin, Minn., and Kurt David Neiswanger (Robbie Levine) of Robbinsdale, Minn.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Eugenia Kahl-Bush of Grand Meadow. She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary in Austin, and an hour before the service Friday at the church.

Memorials are preferred to the American Diabetes Association or the American Stroke Association.
