Mrs. Harry Bell Funeral Held At Bethel Alliance

Funeral services for Mrs. Harry Bell, 67 were held Tuesday, May 11 at Bethel Alliance church in Lyle with the Rev. M. H. Averbeck officiating. Interment was in Woodbury cemetery west of Lyle.

Hazel Belle Bell, the daughter of William and Clara DeLaney was born May 13, 1897 in Mitchell county.

She attended the rural school Mitchell county schools and also the Lyle high school.

On January 18, 1915 she was married to Harry Bell at Osage, Iowa. This marriage was blessed with four children, one daughter and three sons.

She resided in the Lyle community and was a member of the Bethel Alliance church, a Sunday School teacher for many years and very active in the activities of the church. She also was a Gold Star mother with the American Legion Auxiliary and a member of the Woodbury Workers.

Mrs. Bell died May 9 just four days before her 68th. birthday. She had been a resident of the Comforcare Nursing Home in Austin since November, 1964 and a patient at St. Olaf Hospital in Austin the past five weeks where she died.

She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. George (Virginia) Weiss of Austin; two sons, Verne Bell of Austin and William Bell of Lyle; also nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; also two sisters, Mrs. Hugh (Thelma) Starr, La Habra, Calif.; and Mrs. Amy Hill of Osage; one brother, Eugene DeLaney of Lyle; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harry, one son Marion L. Bell and one brother, Lee De Laney.
