LYLE -- The funeral for Maurice Wilbur Richardson will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Lyle, with the Rev. Barbara Finley-Shea officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Mona, Iowa, with military rites by American Legion Post 105.

Mr. Richardson, 82, of Lyle, died Saturday (Oct. 25, 2003) at Adams Health Care Center in Adams.

He was born July 31, 1921, in Lyle and attended Lyle public schools. On Aug. 13, 1942, he joined the Army, served as a military policeman, and after his discharge on Feb. 15, 1948, returned to the Lyle area. He worked at a produce company in Osage, Iowa, and was a farm laborer and painter. Mr. Richardson was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Lyle and Lyle American Legion Post 105. He enjoyed reading Western books and doing crossword puzzles.

Survivors include two sisters, Marlys Johnson of Lyle and Norma Hannam of St. Ansgar, Iowa; and a brother, Lloyd (Esther) of LeRoy. He was preceded in death by two sisters, a stepbrother and a stepsister.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin and an hour before the service Tuesday at the church.
