At Our Savior's
Funeral services for Martin K. Wold, 83, who died at his home in Lyle November 30, were held Thursday, December 3, at Our Savior's Lutheran church with the Rev. Merland Johnson officiating.
Martin K. Wold, son of Knute and Anna(Finesth) Wold, was born on a farm near Blooming Prairie, Minn., December 8, 1876. He attended the rural elementary schools of the Blooming Prairie community, and lived on a farm near Blooming Prairie until 1910 with the exception of three years that were spent homesteading in Canada. In 1910 he moved to the Lyle community where he spent 40 years on a farm. After retiring from active farming he had made his home in Lyle.
On September 29, 1912 he was united in marriage with Lydia M. Hanson at St. Olaf Lutheran church in Austin. He was a charter member of Our Savior's church at Lyle where he has served actively and faithfully on several of the church boards and committees.
Mr. Wold is survived by his wife, Lydia; one son, Nolan of Lyle and a grandson, David; a brother, John of Blooming Prairie; six nephews, Alvin, Konrad, Gerhard, Kenneth and Arden Wold of Blooming Prairie and the Rev. Orville Wold of Fort Worth, Texas; two nieces, Mrs. Irvin Tiegen and Miss Bertha Wold of Austin. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Edward Hanson and Miss Marie Wold and two brothers, Arne and Ole Wold.
At the funeral service Chas. Ekle, accompanied by Mrs. Olaf Rosvold sang two selections. Interment was at Grandview Memorial Gardens.
