LYLE -- Richard George Carroll, 68, of Lyle, a retired Geo. A. Hormel &; Co. employee, died Monday (June 8, 1992) at St. Olaf Hospital in Austin.

Born March 26, 1924, in Kasson, he married Winifed ``Peggy'' Deyo on June 9, 1942, in Albert Lea. Mr. Carroll worked in quality control at Hormel from 1946 until his retirement in 1985. During World War II, he served in the Army Air Corps with duty in the South Pacific. Mr. Carroll was a member and three-time past commander of the Lyle American Legion, a member of the Austin Eagles Club and VFW, and a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Lyle.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Timothy of Lyle; a daughter, Erin Volkert of La Crescent; and four grandchildren.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Lyle, with the Rev. Harold Luecke officiating. Burial will be in Woodbury Cemetery in Lyle.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin and an hour before the service Wednesday at the church.
