LYLE -- The city of Lyle, which won the 1990 state trophy in the Minnesota Beautiful - Community Pride program, is competing against 60 other cities for the 1992 traveling trophy.

The 1992 trophy will be awarded based on community projects undertaken in 1991.

Lyle officials on Friday gave two judges, Keith Draz and Peggy Papenfuss, a presentation on projects planned in Lyle. Among the planned projects are the planting of new trees and wildflowers in a recreation area, the using of four vacant lots for a first-time home builder program, and the construction of city lagoons for wastewater treatment.

The Friday visit counts toward 80 percent of the total score in the competition, Lyle officials said.
