AUSTIN -- The funeral for Kenneth A.J. Gemmel will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin with the Rev. James I. Mikkelson officiating. Burial will be in Cedar City Cemetery in rural Austin.

Mr. Gemmel, 85, of 1505 Third Ave. N.W., a retired Hormel Foods Corp. employee, died Saturday (May 10, 1997) at his home.

He was born July 28, 1911, in the Austin area and graduated from Austin High School in 1928. On Oct. 21, 1934, he married Milda Ranum in St. Olaf Parish in Austin. Mr. Gemmel worked at Hormel for 49 years. He was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Union Local P-9 and Alcoholics Anonymous.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Richard Allen of Carrollton, Texas, David Wayne of Austin and Michael Kenneth of Fort Dodge, Iowa; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Edythe Gemmel of San Diego, Calif. Two sisters and two brothers preceded him in death.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary in Austin and an hour before the service Tuesday at the church.
