AUSTIN -- The funeral for Janeth A. Nelson will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church in Austin, with the Rev. Dennis R. Tamke officiating. Interment will be in Cedar City Cemetery in rural Austin at a later date.

Mrs. Nelson, 74, of Austin, died Tuesday (April 19, 2005) at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester.

Janeth Gemmel was born Nov. 20, 1930, in Austin and graduated from Austin High School. She married Harold M. Nelson on Sept. 10, 1950, at First United Methodist Church. She worked for Austin Utilities, was later a seamstress at Drapery Services in Austin and was also a cake decorator. She was a caregiver to many older friends, relatives and neighbors, was a member of First United Methodist Church and active in the UMW, and was a member and volunteer for Cedar City Cemetery Association.

Survivors include her husband; four sons, Arnie (Martha) of Hudson, Wis., Allan of Salida, Colo., and Ardell (Penra Grimley) and Alton (Shelli), both of Austin; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary in Austin and for one hour before the service Saturday at the church.

Memorials are preferred to First United Methodist Church or Cedar City Cemetery Association.
