Helen Silbaugh -- Austin

AUSTIN -- There will be a memorial service for Helen Silbaugh at 11 a.m. Saturday at Clasen-Jordan Morotary Chapel in Austin with the Rev. Harold L. Usgaard officiating. A private family interment service will be conducted in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Mona, Iowa.

Mrs. Silbaugh, 91, of Austin, formerly of Lyle, died Wednesday (Aug. 18 1999) at St. Mark's Lutheran Home in Austin.

Helen Helgeson was born Dec. 25, 1907, on a farm north of Lyle, grew up in the Lyle area and attended Red Star School. She graduated from Austin High School and normal training at Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. On Nov. 24, 1926, she married Asham R. Silbaugh and they made their home in Austin. Mrs. Silbaugh had been a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church since 1926.

Survivors include two sons, James and Harold, both of Austin; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Five sisters and four brothers preceded her in death.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary in Austin. There will be no reviewal on Saturday.
