Gundhild Elizabeth Eggen, commonly known as Libbie Eggen, was born in Mitchell County, Iowa near Mona, December 7, 1870 to Ole and Anna Larson.

At the age of 14 she moved with her parents to Brookings, S. Dak., where she resided until she was 22 years of age. At that time she was married to Lauritz M. Eggen at Brookings on June 1, 1893, and came as a bride to the present Eggen farm where she resided until her death. She died at St. Olaf hospital March 28, from a short illness. Her husband preceded her in death 20 years ago.

Surviving are her three children, the Rev. John Eggen, of Woodstock, Virginia; Mrs. R. B. (Harriet) McIndoe of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Walter of Lyle on the home farm. Also eight grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Clara L. Aubey of Minneapolis. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sisters and three brothers.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Melvin E. Hauge of Austin, at Six-Mile Grove Lutheran church March 31. Burial was in the church cemetery beside her husband.
