AUSTIN -- The funeral for Frieda Louise Waudby, 87, of Austin, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Our Savior's Lutheran Church, the Rev. Don Deines officiating. Burial will be in Cedar City Cemetery in rural Austin.

Mrs. Waudby died Friday (Dec. 28, 2001) in Comforcare Good Samaritan Center.

Frieda Peter was born Dec. 12, 1914, in Waterloo, Iowa. She graduated from Waterloo East High School and attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She married Orren Innes Waudby in Denton, Texas, on July 15, 1944. She taught for several years in the Rose Creek and Elkton schools until her retirement in 1978. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. She taught Sunday School, was a WELCA Bible Study Leader, the church's first woman deacon and a member of the Esther Circle.

Surviving are two daughters, the Rev. Mary Waudby of Mabel, and Susan Waudby of Austin; two sons, Robert (Sheryl) of Gallup, N.M., and Richard (Carol) of Columbia, Mo.; three grandsons; two sisters, Florence (Dwight) Shafer of San Jose, Calif., and Gertrude McLemore; and a brother, Frank (Marjorie) Peter of Reedly, Calif. She was preceded in death by her husband and a sister.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary in Austin and one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday.
