Evelyn Libersky, 88, of Lyle, died Sunday evening, May 29, 2011.

She was born to John and Tena (Koenen) Ruiter on Sept. 19, 1922. After traveling with her father’s work as railroad depot agent, Evelyn’s family made Lyle their home. As a young woman, she worked at the local soda fountain where she met Ray Wayne Libersky. She married Wayne on Sept. 1, 1945, in Nashua, Iowa upon his return from WWII. They built their home in Lyle where she lived for over 65 years.

Evelyn will be remembered for her vibrant personality, homemade doughnuts, flower garden, ornate quilts, and deep love for her family and friends.

She is survived by her grandson, Jason Libersky (Manuela); and her daughter-in-law, Dee Libersky. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Wayne in 2002 and her son Larry in 2007.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 2, 2011, at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Mona, Iowa. A reception will follow at her home in Lyle.
