Our Savior's
Funeral services for Elmer H. Schwanke, 47, were held Monday, August 10 at Our Savior's Lutheran church in Lyle with the Rev. Merland Johnson officiating. Interment was in Pleasant Hill cemetery.
Elmer Henry Schwanke was born November 22, 1917 on a farm near Lyle, the son of Emil and Hannah Schwanke.
He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a member of the Our Savior's Church.
He resided in the Lyle area his entire life, farming the family farm until this year. For many years Elmer dedicated his every effort toward the loving care of his ailing father. After the passing of his father, he maintained the family farm and continued caring for his mother.
He is survived by his mother, Hannah Schwanke, of Lyle; his sister, Mrs. Clayton (Helga) Clausen of St. Ansgar; and a brother, Arnold, of Denver, Colo; two nephews and a niece, Richard, Allen, and Linda Clausen.
Elmer was preceded in death by his father, Emil, who died August 4, 1955.
