AUSTIN -- The funeral for Elaine M. Ball will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary Chapel in Austin with the Rev. George Toschak officiating. Burial will be in Cedar City Cemetery at a later date.

Mrs. Ball, 72, of 911 Fourth Ave. S.W., a former waitress and Shaw School employee, died of natural causes Wednesday (Dec. 17, 1997) at her home.

Elaine Bailey was born June 22, 1925, and graduated from Austin High School in 1943. On June 1, 1947, she married Donald Ball at First United Methodist Church in Austin. Mrs. Ball worked for Hormel Foods Corp. about 10 years, was a waitress at the Austin American Legion for 18 years and noon supervisor at Shaw School for 13 years. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Austin and the Austin American Legion Auxiliary. Her hobbies included sewing and riding her bike.

Survivors include two sons, Rick of Burnsville, Minn., and Steven of Rosemount, Minn.; seven daughters, Kathy (Mrs. Timothy) Cochlin and Ruth (Mrs. Ross) Chamberlain of Austin, Barbara (Mrs. Larry) Helland of Rosemount, Donna Wilson of Dodge Center, Nancy (Mrs. Hank) Robinson III of Blackhawk, Colo., Patricia (Mrs. Dan) McDonald of Inver Grove Heights, Minn., and Kristin (Mrs. Tim) McInnis of Apple Valley, Minn.; 23 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Inez Nuzum of Apache Junction, Ariz., and Lois (Mrs. Wayne) Bates and LaDonna (Mrs. Wilbert) Klapprick, both of Austin; and two brothers, Donald Bailey of Austin and James Bailey of Stewartville. She was preceded in death by her husband, a grandson and an infant sister.

Friends may call from noon until time of the service Saturday at the funeral home.
