AUSTIN -- A graveside service for Edythe P. Gemmel will be at 10 a.m. April 5 in Cedar City Cemetery in Austin, with the Rev. Patricia M. Toschak officiating.

Miss Gemmel, 100, of Austin, a retired civilian employee of the Navy, died Wednesday (March 26, 2003) at Austin Medical Center.

Born Oct. 5, 1902, in Austin Township, Mower County, she attended Cedar City School and Austin High School. While in Austin, she worked at Chuck's Grocery, Albert Thoms Department Store and Mix Cleaners. She moved to Phoenix in 1936 and to San Diego in 1945. She was a civilian employee of the Navy in San Diego for 29 years and retired in 1970. In 1992, she moved to St. Paul's Villa retirement community and in October 2002, returned to Austin.

Survivors include nieces, nephews and special friend, Marge Bardlsey of San Diego. Three brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.

Clasen-Jordan Funeral Home in Austin is in charge of arrangements.
