Dr. Larry D. Libersky -- Lyle

LYLE — The funeral for Dr. Larry D. Libersky will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin, with the Rev. Barbara Finley-Shea officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Mona, Iowa, with the Lyle American Legion providing military honors.

Dr. Libersky, 60, of Magdalena, N.M., formerly of Lyle, died Saturday (March 10, 2007) in Albuquerque, N.M.

Born June 11, 1946, in Austin, and graduated from Lyle High School and Austin Junior College. He earned his doctorate at Winona State College and a Ph.D. in physics from New Mexico Tech, and served in the Army for two years. He had been a resident of Magdalena since 1988. He worked at NMT for 18 years. He then began a new career at Los Alamos National Labs, where he worked for 10 years. Physics was his profession, and he also enjoyed playing trumpet and guitar, composing songs and writing many articles concerning spiritual matters.

Survivors include his wife, Dee of Magdalena; two sons, Jason (Manuela) Libersky and Seth Brown, both of Albuquerque; a daughter, Rachel (Carlos) Ortiz of Albuquerque; and his mother, Evelyn Libersky of Lyle. He was preceded in death by his father, Wayne.

Visitation will be an hour before the service at Worlein Funeral Home.
