AUSTIN -- The funeral for David Earl Johnson will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Mona Lutheran Church in Mona, Iowa, with the Rev. Lydia Mittag officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Mona, with military honors by the St. Ansgar (Iowa) American Legion.

Mr. Johnson, 54, of rural Mona, Iowa, formerly of Austin, died Monday (Feb. 20, 2006) at his home.

He was born July 13, 1951, in Austin. After graduating from St. Ansgar High School, he served in the Navy during the Vietnam era. He married Patricia Reimers on April 27, 1975, in Hutchinson, Minn. He worked for Clements and Sears in Rochester before moving to Showlow, Ariz. He later returned to Iowa, making his home near Mona. He enjoyed outdoor fires, fishing, hunting, camping, watching football and his dog.

Survivors include two sons, Jonathan of Littleton, Colo., and Mark of Rochester; a granddaughter; six sisters, Lillian Jahr of Toeterville, Iowa, Marlys Follmoth of St. Ansgar, Darlene Maine of Fresno, Calif., Grace (Herman) Peterson of Inver Grove Heights, Minn., Linda Garvey of Byron and Monica (Myron) Hemann of McIntire, Iowa; and two brothers, Robert (Patti) and Wayne (Neilene), both of St. Ansgar. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a sister and a brother.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin, and an hour before the service Friday at the church.
