Clifford Horgen Rites Held At Our Savior's

Funeral services for Clifford Palvin Horgen, 63, were held in Lyle Wednesday, August 17 at Our Savior Lutheran church with the Rev. Merland Johnson officiating. Interment was in Enterprise cemetery near Austin.

Clifford Horgen was born September 13, 1896 to Mr. and Mrs. Hans Horgen in Mitchell county, Iowa near Osage. He was baptized as an infant near Osage and confirmed in Osage Lutheran church. He received his elementary education in the Orchard school. He lived near Osage until 1913 when he moved to Mower county where he spent the rest of his life. He was married to Jessie Reed October 19, 1930 at Mason City, Iowa. He had been engaged in farming in the Lyle area the past forty years, and was a member of the Lyle Town Board and also has held the office of Mower county Supervisor.

He died Sunday, August 14 at Memorial Hospital in Osage after suffering a heart attack at 4:30 p.m. that same afternoon.

He is survived by his wife, Jessie; his mother, Mrs. Pauline Horgen, Mona, one sister, Mrs. Martin Willinger, Mona. Two uncles, Hans Peterson, Osage and Carl Peterson, Hudson, Iowa. Two step-sons, Harold Reed, Janesville, Wis. and Lyle Reed of Austin, Minn. Also one niece, Mrs. Curtis Fisher of Polo, Illinois and one nephew Robert Horgen in Korea.

Preceding him in death were his father, two brothers, Earl and Alvin and one sister, Mrs. Albert Skov.
