AUSTIN -- The funeral for Clara T. Haas will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Lyle with the Rev. Barbara Finley-Shea officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, rural Mona, Iowa.

Mrs. Haas, age 100, of Austin, a former Lyle-area farm homemaker, died Saturday evening (March 24, 2001) at Our House Assisted Living Center in Austin.

Clara T. Helgeson was born Oct. 8, 1900, in Lyle and attended Gregg country school near Lyle. On Feb. 17, 1924, she married Carl Oliver Haas in Lyle and they farmed northwest of town until moving to Lyle in 1964. Her husband died Feb. 19, 1966. Mrs. Haas moved to Austin in 1972 and had lived at Our House Assisted Living Center since 1998. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Lyle and its ladies circle, the Lyle Star Homemakers, Worth While Club and Pythian Sisters. She enjoyed crafts and listening to music.

Survivors include two sons, Lavern (Donna) of Austin and Orin (Nancy) of Fremont, Neb.; a daughter, Delores (Wally) Kaihoi of Amery, Wis.; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Three brothers and four sisters preceded her in death.

Friends may call from 11:30 a.m. until time of the service Tuesday at the church.
