Mrs. Anna Sophia Mortenson was born October 10, 1873, to Peter and Marie Hansen at Cedar Falls, Iowa, and passed away at her home in Lyle October 20, 1958, at the age of 85 years and 10 days. When Mrs. Mortensen was six months old the family moved to Lyle where her father opened the first harness shop. Mrs. Mortensen lived in Lyle for 84 1/2 years.

Funeral services were held Thursday, October 23 at Lyle.

On January 8, 1896, she was united in marriage to Jens (James) Mortensen by the Rev. Mueller Eggen. They celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary last January.

Mrs. Mortensen was a member of Our Saviors' Lutheran Church.

She was a kind and loving mother and her interests centered in her family, home and friends. She had been an invalid for the past nine years, and for the last 4 1/2 years she had been confined to her bed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, an infant son, her parents, two sisters and one brother. Surviving are two daughters, Amanda and Katherine (Mrs. L. G. Howard), three sons, Jay, Orville and Lloyd, all of Lyle, one sister and a brother of Omaha, eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
