Alice Austinson of Riceville dies at 86

RICEVILLE, Iowa -- Alice Austinson, 86, of Riceville, Iowa, died this morning (Oct. 24, 1994) at her home.

The former Alice Johnson was born Sept. 21, 1908, in St. Ansgar, Iowa. On Sept. 18, 1929, she married Mandeville Austinson in St. Ansgar. The couple farmed until retiring several years ago.

She is survived by a son, Delmar of Osage, Iowa; a daughter, Darlene (Mrs. Dale) Bodermann of Elma, Iowa; eight grandchildren; five great-grandsons, two brothers, Emil Johnson of Otranto, Iowa, and M.E. Johnson of Waterloo, Iowa; and four sisters, Charlotte Marcussen of St. Ansgar, Agnes DeMaris of Bolan, Iowa, Nellie (Mrs. Otto) Helfritz of Ringsted, Iowa, and Esther Everson of Lyle. She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers and a sister.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Le Roy Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Judy Anderson-Bauer officiating. Burial will be 2 p.m. in Six Mile Grove Cemetery near Lyle.

Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hutchins Funeral Home in Le Roy and one hour prior to services at the church Friday.
