LYLE -- Hans L. Helle, 63, of Lyle, died Thursday evening Feb. 10, 1994 at St. Olaf Hospital in Austin.

He was born Sept. 29, 1930, at Lake Mills, Iowa. He moved to Minnesota as a child and graduated from Austin High School. From 1951 to 1954, he served in the Navy and Marine Corps as a medic. On May 18, 1952, he married Phyllis Christianson at Red Oak Grove Church in rural Austin. Mr. Helle worked at Hormel Food Corp. for 20 years and was engaged in farming on the family farm most of his life. He was a member of the Austin American Legion, VFW and Six Mile Grove Lutheran Church in Lyle.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Jeffrey Helle of Lyle; a daughter, Catherine (Mrs. Chris) Roser of Rose Creek; six grandsons; four sisters, Anna Benson, Lillian (Mrs. John), and Ruth (Mrs. Sheldon) Lukes, all of Austin, Minnie (Mrs. Richard) Scheffel of Lyle; and a brother, Orville Helle of Austin. He was preceded in death by a brother.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Six Mile Grove Lutheran Church in Lyle, with the Rev. Russell Wangen officiating. Spring burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at Clasen Jordan Mortuary in Austin and one hour prior to services at the church on Sunday.
