Mrs. Wm. Nordland Rites July 18

Funeral services for Mrs. Wm. Nordland, 80, who died Wednesday, July 15 at a Nursing Home in Minneapolis, after suffering several strokes, were held at Albin's funeral chapel in Minneapolis Saturday, with interment at Crystal Lake cemetery also at Minneapolis. The Rev. Jerome Peterson of Rush City, Minnesota, formerly of Lyle, officiating.

Jennie Lee Haines was born November 13, 1878 at Waukon, Iowa. After her elementary education, she also attended the Moody Bible Institute from which she was a graduate and she taught school for a few years before her marriage in the Austin area.

On September 26, 1899 she married Wm. Nordland and they established their home at Austin for a few years then came to Lyle where she was a constant helpmate to her husband who was Editor of the Lyle Tribune for over 53 years until they retired in 1951. All of her married life was spent in Lyle except two years after her marriage and the last four months she and her husband resided in a Nursing Home in Minneapolis.

The couple would have observed their 60th anniversary this fall.
