OBITUARY

The leaves are falling rapidly of late, and many of the early settlers are passing on. Week after week the Tribune chronicles the calls of our departing townsmen and neighbors. This week it is Wm. Swenson, who passed away after an illness of only six days. He was one of the pioneers and had the true pioneer spirit. His rugged constitution carried him through the many hard ups and ills of life, and he lived past the allotted time of man. He was always active and busy, and concerned with the affairs of the town and community.

William Swenson was born in Voss, Norway Sept. 29, 1847, and immigrated to this country in the year of 1865, with his parents, who settled at Black Earth Wis. and lived there a short time, before moving to Boscobel, where he resided until 1895 when he moved to a farm west of Lyle.

In 1919 Mr. Swenson moved to Lyle where he lived until his death. He was taken sick Sunday Dec. 11 and passed peacefully away Saturday morning Dec. 17 at the age of 85 years 2 months and 20 days.

He leaves to mourn his departure Mrs. C. A. Erickson of Lyle; Martin W. Swenson of Plaza, N. D., Sam of California, John and Carl of Minot, N. D.; Wilson of Waltham, Minn.; Josephine of St. Paul, Julia and Bert of Lyle. He also leaves 11 grand children, 2 great grandchildren. He was a faithful church worker, was one of the trustees of Mona and Lyle congregation for number of years.

The pall bearers were: John Hanson, O. H. Dahl, Jens Larson, N. Sevon, J. O. Johnson and Roy Hobkirk. Miss Myrtle Fortun has been on the sick list the past week.

The funeral services were held Tuesday Dec. 20th from the home 1:30 and at the church at 2 P. M., Rev. Langehough officiating.
