Knut O. Strand was born in Wraadal, Telemarken, Norway, Nov, 25 1847. He came to America with his parents and brothers and sisters in 1861, locating in Stoughton, Wis., where the family resided until 1866 when they came to Mitchell County, Iowa, purchased a farm three miles southeast of Mona. It was there Mr. Strand grew to manhood, going through many strenuous pioneer experiences, and by economy and hard work soon became owner or a farm adjoining his parent's estate.

In 1872 he was married to Engeborg Fadness, and to them eight children were born, two of which God in His infinite wisdom called home in their infancy. He leaves to mourn his death, a loving wife, two sons, Adolph Strand of Litchfield, N. D., and Oscar Strand of Lyle, Minn.; four daughters, Mrs. Geo. Rust of Marion, N. D., Mrs. Chas. Colbertson of Carpenter, Ia., Mrs. J. O. Peterson, and Mrs. Arthur Volstad of Wheatland, N. D.; also two brothers, John and Sam, of Mona, Ia., and 15 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

The deceased was an ardent member of the Lutheran church, being a charter member of the church at Mona, to which the family belonged until in 1910, when they retired from active farming, moving to Lyle, Minn., where they became members of the Lutheran church at Lyle.

Mr. Strand confessed a living faith in our Savior and Redeemer, Jesus Christ, with full confidence of meeting the Savior, he expressed himself ready wherever God called him.

The deceased was in good health up to a few years ago, when heart trouble set in, which together with old age, weakened his physical condition gradually, until on March 4, 1928, death called him to his last reward.

The funeral service was held Thursday at the church at 2 P. M., Rev. Langehough officiating.

The pall bearers were:
K. L. Leidall, N. Severson, John Hanson, N. P. Robertson, O. H. Dahl and H. E. Lerud.

Husband, Father, Brother gone,
Listening now to Angel's song,
Joys on earth are very few
Nothing here in life to hold you.

God was calling, calling you
From life's worries, toils and sickness too
To the mansion of heavenly rest
God does all thing always best.
