OLE RUNNING.

Born and reared to manhood in this community, active in our village and social affairs and for the past ten years associated in the blacksmith business in Lyle, passed away Monday morning. The new and strange condition could scarcely be realized, yet the facts remain, and impresses upon all more keenly than ever, the uncertainty of life. About two weeks ago the deceased was taken sick with typhoid fever, and Sunday May 17th was taken to the hospital at Austin. Those who were more intimate with him knew that he had not been well for some time. It was his last trip and Monday morning at 10 o'clock he passed away.

His chair and conservative advice will be missed in the Council Chamber, Volunteer Fire Department, in the management of the Modern Woodmen and officers of the Masonic order. He was conscientious and painstaking and in every station true to his trust. He was of a kind and quiet disposition and those who knew him best were his best friends.

The deceased was born in Mitchell county Iowa Feb. 7th, 1872, where he lived until the spring of '98 when the family moved to the farm west of Lyle. He came to Lyle a few years later where he has since been engaged in the blacksmith business. He was baptized and confirmed by Rev. Olson at St. Ansgar and was at the time of his death a member of the local Lutheran church. He leaves besides his mother, one brother and sister, Mrs. G.A. Harston and Bert Running both of Lyle. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Moe and interment was made in Pleasant Hill cemetery.
