Marie Olson obituary
OBITUARY OF MRS. OLSON
Three score and ten is said to be the allotted time of life, but the subject of this sketch was privilege to remain many years after she had reached that ripened age. It was not by length of days or years, however, that Mrs. Olson endeared herself to those who knew her, but in strength of christian character. She was left early in life by her companion of the home and for the past 50 years she has been the head of the household. Those who knew her best recognized her sterling character the most, and her memory will be cherished by many of the old settlers in Lyle and this community.
Mrs. Marie Olson was born in Kragero, Norway, February 6th, 1841. In the year 1866 she was united in marriage to John Olson. Seven years later they immigrated to America, located in Chicago where they lived for about two years when they came to Lyle, Minnesota.
Mr. Olson passed away in 1876 and of the six children born to this union only one daughter, Miss Sofie, remain to mourn the loss of a kind and loving mother. Mrs. Olson died Saturday September 11th, 1926, after an illness of about seven weeks, having reached the age of 85 years 7 months and 5 days.
The funeral was held Monday afternoon and interment was made in the Pleasant Hill cemetery. Rev. O. M. Langehough having charge of the service.
