OBITUARY

Mads Nelson passed away Saturday evening Dec. 2 at the age of 73 years, 3 months and one day.

Altho Mr. Nelson has been in failing health the past year, he was able to carry on his work until three days before his death, and his sudden passing came as a shock to all who knew him.

Mr. Nelson was born in Denmark Sept. 1, 1871 and came to his parents to this country when only 7 months old, his parents settling in Mitchell county. He was the son of Chris and Mary Ann Nelson.

He was united in marriage to Jennie Erickson, Jan. 19, 1899. Following their marriage they moved onto the farm known as the old Fredickson place, there to reside until buildings were erected on the place which has been their home for the past 40 years.

The deceased leaves to mourn his death, his wife, 3 sons; Francis and Kenneth of Austin; Russel of San Jose, Calif., also 4 daughters; Mrs. J. F. Ogden of St. Ansgar; Mrs. Thorvald Hansen of St. Ansgar; Mrs. Esther Jorgenson of Lyle; Miss Myrtle Nelson of Rochester. He also leaves 18 grand children and 1 great grand child. Three of his grandsons are in the service: Clair Jorgenson, somewhere in Germany; Mark Jorgenson on the Pacific coast; and Paul Nelson, Norman, Okla. Two brothers also survive: Pete and Chris Nelson of this community. Four brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.

Mr. Nelson has been a kind and sympathetic man, always thinking of others needs before his own. Not until his recent illness did he think of his soul's condition, and saw him self a lost sinner, needing a Savior. He made his peace with God, through Jesus Christ which made it easy for him to depart this world.

Funeral services were held at the Mona Lutheran church, Tuesday afternoon, and were largely attended. Rev. Root of Lyle officiated.

"There is a city, supernal
God has prepared for His own.
We read that it is eternal.
That's where our loved one has
gone.

Dad, you have gone to that City
Where there is no sorrow or care,
Surely you know that we will miss
you
Some day we will meet you up there."
