MRS PETER JOHNSON

Olena Henrietta Thompson daughter of [illegible?] and Annie Thompson, was born near Madison, Wis., March 12, 1863, and passed away in peaceful rest at her home near Lyle, Minn., on March 16, 1936 at the age of 73 years, and three days.

She was the last of six children.

When a child of ten years she came with her parents and resided near Mona, Iowa, where she lived until her marriage on December 24, 1879 to Peter Johnson. They lived near St. Ansgar for 14 years, when they purchased a farm northwest of Lyle, on which they lived until 16 years ago. They then moved to Austin where they lived until last autumn, when they moved back to their farm.

To them were born 10 children Mrs. Josephine Olson of Yorkton, Sask., Canada Alfred T. of Rose Creek; Ben J. of Winona; Mrs. Selma Dufty of Austin; Palmer O., Mrs. Mae Weber, Lloyd, all of Lyle; and Mrs Irene Remker of Austin. Two children preceded her in death, Eva L. who died ten years ago and Emma who died in infancy.

Besides her husband and children. Mrs. Johnson leaves to mourn her death, 27 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

She was a loving mother and was devoted to her home and family. Her greatest enjoyment was in helping others. It might well be said that her motto was "Others." She was active in all neighborhood and church activities. She was a true Christian woman and was a member of the Seven Day Adventist church. As long as her strength permitted she attended services. She had been failing in health for the last few years but was not confined to her bed until the last two months.

Mrs. Johnson will be greatly missed by her relatives, many friends and neighbors.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday afternoon at the Jordan Mortuary. Rev. A. L. Beltz of Rochester officiated and interment was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Mother is gone, but not forgotten,
God has taken her into His care,
And on that glorious judgement morning
We all pray that we'll meet her there.

We wish to extend our gratitude to all our relatives, friends and neighbors for the kindness, sympathy and floral offerings during the illness and death of our dear wife and mother. Especially do we thank Rev. A. L. Beltz, the singer, the pallbearers, and those who furnished cars.
