Mona Lutheran

Funeral services for Adolph E. Jahr, 71, who died at the Mitchell County Memorial hospital in Osage Sunday, March 24, were held Wednesday, March 27 at the Mona Lutheran church with the Rev. Stanley Klemesrud officiating.

Adolph E. Jahr, son of Nils and Gen Jahr, was born July 9, 1891 at Mona, Iowa in Mitchell County. He was baptized and confirmed in the Mona Lutheran church and also attended the Mona Public School.

He was inducted into the United States Army, September, 18, 1917, and discharged May 18, 1919. A year of this time was spent overseas.

Following his discharge he worked for the Illinois Central Railroad for eight years.

December 28, 1927 he was united in marriage to Marian Nelson at the home of her parents, officiated by the Rev. O. M. Langehough. Three children were born to this union. Following their marriage they resided at the maternal home of Mrs. Jahr, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Nelson. Later they purchased a farm south of Mona where he resided until his death.

He had been an active and life long member of the Mona Lutheran church and also participated in numerous community affairs.

He had been in failing health for many years. In spite of that he remained very active and brought cheer and comfort to others.

He is survived by one son Almo, of Mona; two daughters, Mrs. Loyal (Marlys) Moore, Garner, Iowa; Mrs. Marlin (Eileen) Kittleson, St. Ansgar. Six grandchildren and three sisters, Mrs. Nannis Larson, Seattle, Wash.; Mrs. Clara Ross, Lamont, Iowa; and Mrs. (Helga) Adolph Schultz of Grafton, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his wife on July 14, 1962; his parents, two sisters and four brothers. Interment was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Mona, with the Rev. Stanley Klemesrud officiating. Military honors were presented by the honor guard of the Walter T. Enneberg Post No. 358 of American Legion.

Relatives attended from St. Paul and Albert Lea, Minn.; also Osage, Charles City, Garner, Lamont and Grafton, Iowa, and Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.
