Last Friday shortly after one o'clock the Death of Angel made another visit to our community and beckoned to one of our citizens to fellow across the shining waters to the better land. The call came without warning while the called was in apparent good health.

B. D. Hedemark was born in Norway July 18, 1851 and came to America in 1873. He at once settled in Lyle and engaged in the shoe business, which he was pushed to success by his honest, energetic methods. He was united in marriage to Olive Larson, Sept 1873. To them were born 7 children, 2 of whom died in infancy and two, Lena and Oscar, died after they had grown to womanhood and manhood. The living are Ole of Mason City, Dena, of Lyle and Bernie of Albert Lea.

The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Esser and Interment was made at Pleasant Hill cemetery.

Mr. Hedemark was an exceptionally good citizen, ever interested in the welfare of our village and an earnest advocate in the cause of temperance reform and the news of his death, which occurred while he was playing a game of croquet, was spread thru the village like a flash and the cloud of sorrow that filled the home where he had lived so many years as a kind and loving husband and father, reached far into the surrounding community and laid as a pall upon the hearts of many, who had learned to love and honor him. Three doctors were on the ground at the time but no aid could be given the dying and little comfort to the living, except the thought that while living he had prepared for death and that he was ready to go, having made peace with his God, through the gift of His Son.

The floral tributes which were large and beautiful were the unspoken expression of love from the many that attended the funeral and followed that which was mortal to its last resting place.

The deceased will be sadly missed from our village as he ever had its interest at heart. He was for many years a member of our school board and also of the village council.

The relatives from away who came to attend the funeral were the Ole Hedemark family from Mason City, Bernie from Albert Lea, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Johnson of Austin, Mrs. M. L. Fosseen of Minneapolis, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Odegaard of Grand Forks, N.D., John Odegaard of Buxton, N. D., E. Hedemark and Mrs. Shulstad and daughter of Reynolds, N. D., John Bye and Hans Arneson of Emmons, Minn.
