REV N.N. ESSER BURIED MONA FRIDAY AFTERNOON

Rev N Esser of Fargo, Lutheran clergy man of North Dakota, and father of Mrs. Jos Narlock of Fargo 12th St. N. died Sunday in his home following a long illness. Funeral services were held at 2 P M Thursday in the First Lutheran church with burial at Lyle, Minn. The Ivers Funeral Home had charge of the funeral.

In addition to Mrs. Narlock there are two sons, Siguard E., Balboa, Panama canal zone, and Norman L., superintendent of schools at McLaughlin, S. D. Mrs. Esser, who was Eleda Johnson of Alpena, Mich., before her marriage to Rev. Mr Esser in 1902, died at Lyle, Minnesota in the year 1907. Mr. Esser also leaves a sister, Mrs. Thos. Skrenes of Sun Prairie, Wis, and a brother in Norway. There are 3 grand children.

Siguard Esser came from Balboa, to attend the services, making the trip by plane.

A student in many fields, Rev. Esser was admitted to the bar, was an ordained minister, served as soldier, taught school and was the author of many articles and poems.

Rev. Mr. Esser was born Sept. 26, 1866, at Balhom, Norway. He took private instruction and entered the government military academy at Bergen in 1888, being graduated in 1891. Then for two years he attended the Bergen Institute of Technology, studying navagation and medicine.

To complete his education; Rev. Esser came to the U S in 1893. He studied at Stoughton Academy; Stoughton Wis, Red Wing Seminary at Red Wing, Minn, the United Church seminary and the Indiana Central University.

In 1900 he completed a course in medicine at the Independent Medical College of Chicago. The following year he received his law degree from Southern Normal University pastorates at Suttons Bay, Mich; Stoughton, Wis; Lyle Minn; Davenport, Neb., and Crosby, N.D.

Mr. Esser taught school in Iowa and Minneapolis. He was superintendent of schools at Summit, S. D.; Heaton, N.D; Wolverton, Minn. Upham, Lignite Russell and Palermo N.D.

In 1898 he enlisted in the 14th Minnesota volunteers for Spanish-American war duty and was offered a chaplaincy in the army in 1907.

He enlisted for army duty again training camp at Fort Snelling, in 1917 and was sent to the officers Minn.

A member of the American Legion, Rev. Mr. Esser was commander of the Crosby post in 1926.

Two nieces, the Misses Screens and a nephew, also Rev Johnson of Sun Prairie were here for the interment service held at the grave. The group of eleven persons were entertained at dinner at the W H McKee home.

While looking over the flowers at the Mc Nee home, the undertaker who brought the remains of Rev Esser to Lyle last week remarked that his father had thousands of "glad" bulbs, but nothing like a deep purple which Mrs. McKee has an abundance of. His hostess cheerfully presented him with a generous sample.
