Obituary Of Lloyd Dahl

Lloyd Ferdinand Dahl, son of Henry and Emma Dahl, was born in Lyle, Minnesota, October 15, 1899. He passed away March 4, 1963, at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester at the age of 63. He resided in Lyle during his entire life, except for four years when he lived in Minneapolis.

He graduated from Lyle High School and Collegiate School of Business in Minneapolis. He attended the University of Minnesota where he was a member of the Student Army Training Corps, receiving his honorary discharge in 1918.

Following his education he assumed a position with Janney Semple Hill and Company of Minneapolis where he was employed at the time of his marriage August 22, 1923, to Leola Jane Painter, of Minneapolis. Due to ill health of his father, he left Minneapolis and became an active member of the Dahl and Fedson Hardware, which later became Dahls Hardware and Implements where he was engaged in business for 40 years.

In the community he has been an active member of the Lion's Club, Commercial Club, Lyle School Board, and was Director of the Lyle City Band. As a member of the First Baptist church of Austin he served as a deacon and a trustee. At the time of his death he was a member of the Salvation Army Board and a director on the Pleasant Hill Cemetery Assn. at Mona.

While he was keenly interested in civic affairs, his dedication was to serving the Lord whom he accepted as his personal Savior at an early age. His love for music gave expression through the family orchestra, and the Dahl quartet. For the past 22 years he has been a member of his church choir and also sang in the First Baptist Quartet.

He is survived by his wife, Leola; two sons, Glenn of Lyle and Jerry of Minneapolis; daughters, Mrs. Ralph Williams, Lincoln, Neb.; Leo (Gloria) Sandgren Jr. missionary in Africa; also two sisters, Mrs. Paul Ross (Genevieve) of Alberta, Canada and Mrs Sterling Krause (Evangeline) Lyle; and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded by his parents and four brothers, Fred, Glenn, Paul and James.

Funeral services were held at First Baptist church, Austin March 7, with Rev. Charles G. Pausley officiating. Interment was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Mona, with Worlein Funeral Home in charge. Friends and relatives attending the funeral were from Alberta, Canada; Minneapolis, St Paul, Albert Lea and Blooming Prairie, Minn.; Lincoln, Neb. and St. Ansgar, Iowa.
