OBITUARY

Mrs. Maren Anderson was born in Grue Parish, Solor Norway, Sept. 29, 1833. She emigrated to America with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Pederson, in 1853. She was married Sept. 17, of the same year to Halvor Anderson at Milwaukee, Wis., where they spent the winter, coming to Mitchell, Co., Iowa, in the summer of 1854 and settled on a homestead.

To this union was born twelve children, one dying in infancy. Eleven are still living to mourn over the departure of a kind and loving mother. She became a widow in 1899. In 1911 she left the farm and moved to Lyle, Minn., where she resided until her death. On Feb. 4th 1917, she had a paralytic stroke and was confined to her bed until the time of her death, April 11th, having reached the age of 83 years, 6 months and 12 days.

The children are:
Peter Anderson, Beaumont, Texas
Mrs. Mathilda Peterson, Council Bluffs
Mrs. Fred Jonas of Chehalis, Wash.
Mrs. August Franson, Colon, Neb.
Oliver Anderson, Wahoo, Nebr.
Mrs. Marie Rockafellow, Bernhardt,
Nils, Julia and Mina and Belle of Lyle,
Minn., all of whom were present ex-
cept Peter Anderson and Mrs. Jonas.

She is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

The deceased was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran State Church of Norway. She was a member of Our Saviors's Church of Mona since it was organized, and during these many years has rendered much useful service both to the Ladies Aid Society and the congregation at large.

We are happy in the thought that she now peacefully rests from her labors; and that she has received the crown of reward. - Contributed.
