Joy I. Nelson Funeral Held At Mona Lutheran
Funeral services for Mrs. Joy I. Nelson, 69, of Mona, who died February 11, were held February 14 at the Mona Lutheran church with the Rev. Gaylord Grant officiating.
Joy I. Nelson was born October 18, 1914 in LuVerne, the only child of George and Minnie (Legler) Watkinson. She was graduated from Garner high school and received a teaching certificate from Iowa State Teachers College, Cedar Falls. She taught school for several years in rural schools in Hudson, Akron, Union township and Otranto.
She married Harlan Nelson of Mona April 1, 1938, and she lived in Mona the remainder of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
Mrs. Nelson is survived by four sons: Harlan F. (Fred) of Rolla, Mo.; Curtis J. (Jerry) of Columbia, Mo.; Gordon T. (Tom) of Osage; and Leon R. (Dick) of Charles City; two daughters, Mary of Ankeny and Patricia of Cartersville, Ga.; also nine grandchildren.
Burial was in Pleasant Hill cemetery with Rev. Grant in charge of committal services.
