The City Market - Fernie Neus
1947-02-14 - "Sold Farm & Bought House & Store" - A deal was closed Wednesday whereby Fernie News (sic) became the owner of the Red Owl store, owned by Mr. Bretchel who in the deal acquired a 120 acre farm, 10 mi. east of Lyle, 80 acres in Sec. 27 and 40 acres in Section 34, Adams township. Mr. News also closed deal with L. C. Priem for the latter's hous in Lyle, known as the Julius Johnson place. Mr. Priem plans to build in Lyle if he can find a suitable location. In the mean time he will occupy the house on the farm purchased by Mr. Bretchel.
1947-03-21 - The new owner, Fernie News (sic) took charge of the Red Owl Store in Lyle Monday, which he recently purchased. His father-in-law, Thos. Holman, who is a butcher by profession, will assist in the store.

1948-12-17 - "Bought Grocery" - Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Romig of Faribault have purchased the City Market from Mrs. Fernie Neus, who has operated the business since her husband passed away. The Forrest family will have living quarters over the Hobkirk barber shop. Due to the icy roads the new proprietors did not take charge Wednesday as planned, but will do so later. Mrs. Neus has also sold her house to Mikkel Helle of Mona. She will give possession June 1st.
