OBITUARY.

Mrs. Mary Sutherland of Otranto Station died last Friday night at the advanced age of 91 years. She had been quite feeble for some time past but was able to be about the house until the day of her death.

She was one of the oldest settlers in this part of the country, coming to Old Otranto in 1865. About three years after the family had moved here Mr. Sutherland died leaving the mother with a large family of children. She soon broke up housekeeping and went to live with some of them and for a long time has made it her home with her daughter Mrs. A. Woodley of Otranto Station.

She was born in Lancaster, Canada in 1809 and it was there she spent the early part of her life. For a short time before coming here the family sojourned in Dane county, Wisconsin, but their stay there was short compared with that of her after residence in this part of the country. She leaves five children to mourn her loss, Mr. Joseph Sutherland of Lincoln, Neb. Walter of Spokane, Washington, Mrs. Riblet of Aberdeen, S. D., Mrs. Campbell of DeForest, Wis., and Mrs. Woodley.

The funeral services were conducted by Rev. D. W. Cram. There was a short service at the house and then another service following in the church. The remains were interred at the Woodbury cemetery by the side of her husband and youngest son. It was one the desires she had expressed that she might be laid to rest beside them. The family wish to thank the many friends for the many ways in which their sympathy was manifested in the hour of their bereavement.
