A former Lyle man, E. B. Sherman, 83, of Wibaux, Mont. died March 18 at Golden Valley hospital in Beach, N.D. where he had been a patient from an illness since January 3. Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 22 at Chrisitian Fundmental church in Wibaux, with the Rev. Paul Lemke officiating, and interment was at Wibaux.
Edward Beaman Sherman, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jewett Sherman, was born in Lyle November 26, 1883. He grew up in Lyle and attended Lyle school.
On June 28, 1911 he was married to Bertha Hanson of rural Otranto at the Hanson homestead east of Otranto.
He and his wife were employed at Dahl's Hardware in Lyle for Henry Dahl until 1912 when they moved to Wibaux, Mont. where Mr. Sherman was in the Crescent Hardware business with his brothers-in-law, George and Henry Hanson, and later he was in business with his son, Beaman until his retirement three years ago due to failing health.
He is survived by his wife, Bertha, one son, Beaman, one brother, Stanton Sherman, all of Wibaux, and one sister-in-law, Mrs. Walter Sherman of Lyle and nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Willis, Walter and Leslie, all of Lyle and two sisters, Grace Sherman of Lyle and Mrs. Nellie Hanson of Florida.
